New Paltz, New York

Yesterday was the perfect day! I was lucky enough to spend time with Matt and my parents. We headed to our favorite place upstate New York – Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. I’ve been going here since I was a little girl about 2 years old.

Before we headed to Mohonk, we went to a local apple orchard close by called Wilklow Orchards. This place was so awesome! There were rows and rows of apples left and they still had so many options, about 10 different types! Our favorites were Jonagold, Winsap, & Gold Rush! I’m a big fan of yellow apples because the skin isn’t tough to bite into. We picked about 50 apples! Of course I had to grab a pumpkin at the end and some gourdes to decorate the house.

If you have never been to Mohonk, you are missing out on a gorgeous place. It’s a huge Victorian castle where you can go canoeing, hiking, take a walk in the garden, visit gazebos, relax on a rocking chair, ice skate in the winter, and so much more. For all my New Yorkers, it’s located right near the Catskill Mountains. For me it’s home away from home. There’s a smell that permeates the air that just reminds me of visiting as a little girl. It’s a mix of wood, a burning fireplace, and crisp upstate air. Every time I’m there it’s never enough, I just want to stay there forever. Take a look at some of my shots from yesterday’s outing. The last picture is of Sky Top. When you are driving on the road you can see Sky Top at the edge of the mountain, waiting for you to climb up to the top.
